On 7 November 2025, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) released Regulatory Guide 282: Exchange traded products (RG 282).

RG 282 is directed to both exchange traded funds (ETFs) issuers and market operators that admit exchange traded products (ETPs).

Consolidated guide

RG 282 is a consolidated guide which replaces and expands the now withdrawn INFO 230 –Exchange traded products: Admission guidelines and synthesises certain ASIC reports, legislative instruments and market practices into a single framework.

The initial sections of RG 282 are for issuers of interests or shares in ETFs (with a focus on responsible entities). RG 282 provides guidance on how ETF issuers can comply with their obligations under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), relevant legislative instruments, and market operating rules. RG 282 does not, however, cover the cross-listing of ETFs across multiple licensed markets.

The final section of RG 282 is for Australian market operators that admit ETPs. The guide sets out good practices in relation to admission and monitoring standards for ETPs, which largely reflect current market practice.
