On 18 September 2025, the FCA published a speech, delivered by Jessica Rusu, FCA Chief Data, Information, and Intelligence Officer, at the Future of Fintech conference.
Key points covered included the following:
- Innovation and technology are key to Government and FCA strategy: FCA initiatives to support this include the launch of the Supercharged Sandbox and AI Live Testing, alongside existing support from the Innovation Pathways Service.
- A focus on encouraging global fintech investment: The FCA is consulting on new proposals to regulate crypto and launching a new scale-up unit, which are intended to create an environment for firms to best innovate, grow and scale.
- Open finance initiatives: The FCA has also launched its Smart Data Accelerator, with the aim of enabling secure data sharing, and is also working with the Information Commissioner’s Office to address any cross-regulator issues.
