On 28 April 2026, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published a draft Implementing Regulation which amends Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1718 with regard to closely correlated currencies in accordance with the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR).
Article 354 of the CRR mandates the EBA to develop implementing technical standards (ITS) specifying closely correlated currencies for the purposes of calculating capital requirements for foreign‑exchange risk under the standardised approach. The draft Implementing Regulation provides for the 2026 update of the list of closely correlated currencies, which is used for the calculation of capital requirements for foreign exchange risk under the standardised approach. The update has been carried out in line with the methodology and procedure set out in the applicable ITS. The revised list has been submitted to the European Commission for endorsement.
