On 22 September 2017, the Dutch Minister of Finance (the Minister) announced that the implementation of the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) in the Netherlands by the 13 January 2018 deadline will no longer be feasible.

The Minister has indicated that the draft legislative proposal implementing the PSD2, which was published for consultation in November 2016, is now being reviewed by the Dutch Council of State (Raad van State). Following the Dutch Council of State’s advice, the Minister will submit the legislative proposal to the Dutch Parliament as soon as possible. The Minister will shortly inform the market on a realistic date on which the implementation will take place (most likely in the Spring of 2018).
