On 12 February 2016, the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank, DNB) introduced the Whistleblowing Desk (Meldpunt Misstanden) for professionals working in the financial sector.
Professionals who are active in the financial sector, such as employees, advisors and legal service providers, may become aware of serious breaches of laws and regulations at a financial institution. The Whistleblowing Desk can be used by those who cannot directly report such breaches to the financial institution concerned. For example, if a financial institution does not have a whistle blower policy or out of fear of personal consequences. Whistleblowers can file a report to the DNB’s Whistleblowing Desk by telephone, email, letter or through an online form.
