On 4 March 2024, the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) published a draft report on the legislative proposal for a Regulation establishing a European Deposit Insurance Scheme (EDIS Regulation).

The draft report contains a draft European Parliament legislative resolution setting out suggested changes to the proposed EDIS Regulation.

The European Commission first adopted its legislative proposal for the EDIS Regulation in November 2015. In December 2022, prominent Members of the European Parliament called for the Commission and Member States to give the proposed Regulation, which had been on hold while the EU focused on a roadmap for completing the Banking Union, “a new push”.
