On 9 September 2024, the European Banking Authority (EBA) announced that it was launching the 2024 EU-wide transparency exercise.
The EU-wide transparency exercise complements the EBA’s bi-annual stress test and uses supervisory reporting data to provide a clear picture of banks’ capital strength, risk exposures and asset quality. The EBA will carry out the transparency exercise in the autumn which will disclose capital positions, financial assets, risk exposure amounts, sovereign exposures and asset quality information of the EU banking sector in H2 2023 and in H1 2024. The exercise is going to be exclusively based on supervisory reporting data and will not require any additional reporting burden for banks.
The results will be published at the end of November, together with the release of the Risk Assessment Report.
