The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten, the AFM) has updated its guide “Information on risk profiles” (Informatie over risicoprofielen), which was first published in 2010. The purpose of the guide is to help financial institutions focus on the interests of their clients and improve the quality of information that is provided to them. It is intended that with the recommendations in this guide, financial institutions, such as investment firms and financial services providers, will be able to provide consumers with more informative material so that they can have a better understanding of their investments and the associated risks. The AFM also believes that consumers will be better placed to compare different risk profiles and investments against each other.
