On 22 May 2023, the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten, the AFM) published a news item on periodic questionnaires on remuneration for investment firms. From June 2023 onwards, investment firms supervised by the AFM will periodically receive one or more questionnaires on various aspects of remuneration. This is due to the introduction of the Investment Firms Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2019/2033, IFR) and the Investment Firms Directive (Directive (EU) 2019/2034, IFD).

The information obtained via the questionnaires will be submitted to the European Banking Authority (EBA). The EBA will use this input to prepare a report and use for benchmarking purposes. The questionnaires will be based on the guidelines on high earners and the gender pay gap prepared by EBA, which apply as of 31 December 2022. The guidelines on sound remuneration policies under IFD and internal governance under IFD also continue to be relevant.

In 2023, the AFM will send a questionnaire on high earners for all investment firms, as well as a questionnaire on remuneration for a selected group of investment firms. Next year, in 2024, the questionnaire will be on the gender pay gap. In 2025, a selected group of investment firms will be required to complete questionnaires on diversity and gender neutral remuneration.
