The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten, the AFM) recently requested investment firms and tied agents in the Netherlands, as well as Dutch branch offices of foreign investment firms, to complete an online questionnaire on compliance with the Act on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing (Wet ter voorkoming van witwassen en financieren van terrorisme, Wwft) and the Sanctions Act 1977 (Sanctiewet 1977).
The questionnaire contains an extensive list of questions regarding the aforementioned undertakings’ activities and compliance with the Wwft and the Sanctions Act 1977. The information provided by the undertakings when completing the questionnaire will be used by the AFM to draw up risk profiles which will provide the AFM with a general picture of the market when it comes to inherent money laundering and terrorist financing risks (and the control thereof). The AFM will also use this information when making choices with regard to its supervisory strategy.
The deadline for completing the questionnaire is 3 July 2020.
