On 30 May 2019, the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) issued a press release following its meeting this month in which priority issues facing securities market regulators and supervisors were discussed. The priority issues include:
- crypto-assets. IOSCO will be publishing a consultation report on crypto-asset trading platforms, in response to a G20 request. IOSCO has also launched an Emerging Digital Threats Portal for its members to share enforcement-related information on emerging digital threats;
- market fragmentation. IOSCO will publish a report, Market Fragmentation and Cross Border Regulation, which analyses how some financial markets may have experienced fragmentation in whole or in part due to regulation;
- sustainable finance. Among other things IOSCO’s GEM Committee plans to publish a report on sustainable finance in emerging markets; and
- cyber task force. IOSCO will publish a report that examines how its members are applying existing cyber standards or guidance and identifies potential gaps in the application of these standards.
