On 26 November 2024, the Financial Stability Board (FSB) published the 2024 list of global systemically important banks (G-SIBs) and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (Basel Committee) published additional information relating to the 2024 G-SIB assessment.
The FSB confirmed that no banks have been removed or added to the list, with the total number of G-SIBs remaining at 29, although two banks have moved between categories within the list. The list was prepared using end-2023 data and applying the assessment methodology designed by the Basel Committee.
The additional information published by the Basel Committee is intended to help readers understand the scoring methodology used to compile the list. That information includes:
- The denominators of the high-level indicators used to calculate banks’ scores.
- The high-level indicators for each bank in the sample used to calculate these denominators.
- The cut-off score used to identify the G-SIBs in the updated list and the thresholds used to allocate G-SIBs to buckets for the purpose of calculating the higher loss-absorbency requirements.
