On 30 December 2025, there was published in the Official Journal of the EU, Commission Notice on the application of the sustainable finance framework and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive to the defence sector. The Notice is intended to help market operators ensure compliance with the requirements of the EU sustainable finance framework in relation to the defence industry. Its aim is to help prevent any undue discrimination of the sector in investment decisions and ensure a better understanding and recognition of the sector’s potential to contribute to social sustainability, in line with the objectives of the European defence industrial strategy and the Joint White Paper for European Defence Readiness 2030.
