There has been published on the legislation.gov.uk website The Immigration Act 2014 (Current Accounts) (Compliance etc) Regulations 2016 together with an explanatory memorandum.
The Regulations prescribe certain requirements (as to information, manner and form and timing) for the purposes of the statutory regime applicable to current accounts set out in sections 40A to 40H of the Immigration Act 2014. These include a requirement on banks and building societies for immigration checks to be carried out on a quarterly basis; the information that the Home Office must provide to a bank or building society to enable it to comply with its duty to close accounts and a requirement on banks and building societies to inform the Home Office of the steps it has taken to comply with that duty.
The Regulations come into force on 30 October 2017.
