On 15 January 2021, the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) announced that it had updated its requirements’ document for Registered Reporting Mechanisms (RRMs) and will resume their registration. ACER’s announcement follows the adoption and entry into application of the European Commission’s Decision on fees due to ACER for collecting, handling, processing and analysing of information under the Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT). The updated document now includes coverage of the Commission’s decision which foresees an initial enrolment fee for entities applying to become a RRM and a yearly fee for registered RRMs. ACER is to resume the registration of RRMs and the provision of all necessary services. This will require ACER processing numerous pending RRM applications, as well as the potential new ones. ACER will inform stakeholders about the schedules for these activities in future communications.
