On 15 November 2021, the FCA issued a special edition of its Primary Market Bulletin. The Bulletin focusses on the introduction of specific Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) aligned climate-related disclosure requirements for listed companies and sets out the FCA’s disclosure expectations and supervisory strategy. This includes an important consultation on the addition of 1 new technical note to the knowledge base – Primary Markets/TN/802.1 TCFD aligned disclosure requirements for listed companies.

The introduction of specific TCFD aligned climate-related disclosure requirements for listed companies is an important new development both for the FCA and the companies it regulates. In Policy Statement 20/17 and Consultation Paper 21/18 the FCA committed to setting out its supervisory strategy for monitoring compliance with the new premium and proposed standard listing rules. This Primary Market Bulletin sets out further information on the FCA’s disclosure expectations and supervisory strategy. It is aimed at a number of different stakeholders including listed companies, their directors and advisers (including external auditors), investors and asset owners more broadly.
