The European Parliament has published a press release announcing that it has reached political agreement with the Council of the EU on the proposed Regulation on key information documents (KID) for packaged retail investment products (PRIPs). The European Commission has, as a result, published a press release in which Michel Barnier, European Commissioner for Internal Markets and Services, welcomes the development.
The European Parliament is now expected to adopt the Regulation at its second plenary session, to be held from 14 to 17 April 2014 (the last plenary session of the current European legislature), following which it should become adopted by the Council.
