The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has published the latest issue of its newsletter Ombudsman news (issue 121). This issue of Ombudsman news begins with an article on buildings and contents insurance and the problems that can arise when people are asked to give their own valuation of what their contents are worth. This is then followed by several case study articles which includes one on where a consumer complains that she was not asked a clear question when taking out insurance. The newsletter then sets out the second quarter statistics regarding what consumers have complained about to the FOS during July to September 2014. At the end of the newsletter there is a further article covering lifetime mortgages and financial hardship.
