There has been published in the Official Journal of the EU the texts of the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and Directive on criminal sanctions for insider dealing and market manipulation (CSMAD) (together, MAD II). MAR will come into effect in July 2016, except for certain provisions specified in Article 39, which will come into effect on 2 July 2014. Member states have two years to transpose CSMAD into their national law although the UK has opted out of this preferring its own version of market abuse offences and sanctions.
