On 20 May 2019, the Legal Entity Identifier Regulatory Oversight Committee (LEI ROC) published its final policy on fund relationships in the global LEI system (GLEIS), which provides definitions of relationships affecting investment funds of collective investment schemes and specifies when reporting these relationships would be optional or not. It also includes new guidelines for the registration of investment funds in the GLEIS.

Implementation of the policy is expected within eighteen months after its publication. This is due to the need for the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation to prepare the technical standards in consultation with local operating units (LOUs), for LOUs to implement them and provide sufficient guidance to registrants ahead of implementation.
