On 13 June 2024, the Labour Party issued its Manifesto for the 2024 General Election.

Financial services related comments in the Manifesto include:

  • Financial services are one of Britain’s greatest success stories. Labour will create the conditions to support innovation and growth in the sector, through supporting new technology, including Open Banking and Open Finance and ensuring a pro-innovation regulatory framework (page 28).
  • Labour will ensure the institutional framework for policy making reflects the UK’s commitments to reach net zero and meet carbon budgets. Labour will make the UK the green finance capital of the world, mandating UK-regulated financial institutions – including banks, asset managers, pension funds, and insurers – and FTSE 100 companies to develop and implement credible transition plans that align with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement (page 57).
  • Labour will also work with the UK’s allies and international financial centres to tackle corruption and money laundering, including in Britain, Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories (page 120).
