On 13 July 2021, the Bank of England published the latest Financial Stability Report.
The Report sets out the Financial Policy Committee’s view on the stability of the UK financial system and what it is doing to remove or reduce any risks to it.
Highlights from the Report include:
- The UK financial system has provided support to households and businesses to weather the economic disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting the resilience that has been built up since the global financial crisis, and the exceptional policy responses of the UK authorities.
- The economic outlook has improved, but risks to the recovery remain, especially those related to the spread of COVID-19.
- Households and businesses will need continued support from the UK financial system as the economy recovers and the Government’s exceptional support measures unwind over the coming months. Banks have the capital and liquidity to be able to support the economy.
