The FCA has published a new webpage that is dedicated to the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (recast) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (together MiFID II). The purpose of the webpage is to help keep market participants, firms and consumers informed on developments relating to MiFID II.

The webpage contains links to four other new webpages on MiFID II covering:

  • MiFID review. This page provides some basic background information on why the European Commission published proposals for MiFID II in October 2011;
  • MiFID II – what is changing? This page contains links to key topics on MiFID II including commodity derivatives, high frequency trading, market structure, trade reporting, conduct of business rules and transaction reporting;
  • MiFID II – the legislative process. This page mentions that MiFID II will be supplemented by implementing measures which will take two forms, delegated acts and technical standards; and
  • MiFID II – EU implementing measures. This page notes that the European Securities and Markets Authority is expected to provide advice on the delegated acts to the European Commission by the end of 2014 and drafts of the technical standards by the middle of 2015.
