On 8 March 2019, the FCA published final rules on the Directory – a new public register that enables consumers, firms and other stakeholders to find information on key individuals working in financial services.

Table 1 on page 5 of Policy Statement 19/7: The Directory summarises the information to appear publicly in the Directory. Table 2 on page 7 of the Policy Statement summarises the changes made to the proposals set out in its earlier consultation.

The Directory is expected to go live in March 2020.

Banking firms and insurers can start submitting data on Directory individuals using the FCA’s online system Connect or the multi-entry facility from around September 2019. For these firms the deadline to upload information to the Directory is 9 March 2020.

All other firms can start submitting data as of 9 December 2019 following commencement of the senior managers’ and certification regime for solo-regulated firms. For these firms the deadline to upload information to the Directory is 9 December 2020.

Firms need to take all necessary action to gather the required information and ensure its accuracy prior to submission.
