The European Parliament has published a press release announcing that it has approved the proposed Payment Accounts Directive (PAD). The Parliament notes in its press release that the rules need to be officially approved by Member States, after which they will then have 24 months to transpose them into national law.

Additionally, the European Commission has also published a press release together with FAQs on the PAD.
