On 4 February 2019, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published an updated version of its Q&As on MiFID data reporting. The updated Q&As insert the following:

• a new question concerning the legal entity identifier asking: “How should operators of trading venue(s) and systematic internaliser(s) populate field 5 (issuer or operator of the trading venue identifier) of Table 3 of the Annex to RTS 23 and related MAR RTS and ITS where the issuer of the instrument has a branch(es) that have a LEI?”;

• three new questions on the maturity date, expiry date and termination date concerning the population of fields within Table 3 of the Annex to RTS 3, and the termination of an instrument in FIRDS; and

• an amendment to question C of the complex trades section of the Q&As concerning how the TVTIC (field 3 of RTS 22) should be populated in transaction reports of a complex trade.
