The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published an economic report which is intended to shed further light on the extent of high-frequency trading (HFT) in EU equity markets. In particular, the report discusses the identification of HFT and provides estimates of HFT activity based on a cross-EU sample of stocks.
