The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published a paper summarising the technical data reporting requirements under the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation. ESMA has also indicated the following dates for the start of data collection:

  • by July 2017, ESMA plans to start collection of instrument reference data;
  • by September 2017, ESMA plans to start collection of data for transparency and double volume cap calculations; and
  • by 3 January 2018, Member State national competent authorities plan to start collection of transaction data.
