The European Parliament’s (EP) Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) has published two press releases which announce that it has voted on a report containing amendments to the proposed:
- Directive primarily repealing and replacing the Payments Services Directive; and
- Regulation on interchange fees for card-based payment transactions.
The texts of the reports adopted by ECON have not yet been published. The press releases explain that the ECON votes consolidate the EP’s position and the rules will be put to vote by a full EP during one of the upcoming parliamentary sessions. The Parliament is due to consider the payments legislative package at its 2 to 3 April 2014 plenary session.
