On 3 September 2020, the Council of the EU published a letter from the Chair of the European Parliament’s ECON Committee concerning the proposed Regulation on the framework for the recovery and resolution of central counterparties. The letter explains that at a meeting on 22 July 2020 the Council’s Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER II) decided to accept the outcome of the inter-institutional negotiations on the proposed Regulation. The letter states that if the Council formally transmits its first reading position, in the form of the text of the proposed Regulation set out in the Annex, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will recommend to the European Parliament plenary that the Council’s position should be approved without amendment in the European Parliament’s second reading.
