The European Central Bank (ECB) has published its annual report for 2016. The annual report describes the tasks and activities of the European System of Central Banks and reports on the Eurosystem’s monetary policy. Among other things, the report covers:
- the euro area economy;
- monetary policy in support of the euro area recovery and a rise in inflation; and
- improving resilience in the European financial sector.
The ECB has also published the introductory remarks made by Mario Draghi, President of the ECB, who notes that the ECB is also looking into the problem of non-performing loans and how new technology and innovation might affect the structure and the functioning of the sector.
