The European Banking Authority (EBA) has updated its questions and answers (Q&As) on the single rulebook, which relate to the CRD IV package of reforms: the CRD IV Directive, the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) and the related technical standards and guidelines developed by the EBA. The 5 updated Q&As cover:

  • eligibility of capital instruments for classification as Common Equity Tier 1 instruments when the instruments are supplemented by a contractual obligation of the majority shareholder to pay a fixed yearly compensation to the minority shareholders;
  • specific collective provisions allocation;
  • cash inflows from major index equity instruments;
  • standardised method; and
  • eligibility of CET 1 in case of an agreement for transfer of profit and coverage of losses.
