The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published its technical advice to the European Commission on the criteria and principles that will be used to determine the uniform level of contributions by banks in those Member States that are participating in the Single Resolution Fund (SRF).
The key objective of the technical advice is to ensure that the SRF has sufficient means to credibly support resolution measures in the participating Member States. The technical advice provides a number of recommendations on which safeguards should be in place to ensure that the target level of the SRF (at least 1% of the amount of covered deposits of all credit institutions authorised in all of the participating Member States) is achieved by the end of the initial period (eight years from 1 January 2016 or from the date on which this provision is applicable).
