The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published:

  • a Consultation Paper on draft guidelines on the remuneration benchmarking exercise. The purpose of the consultation is to set out proposals that update the EBA’s July 2012 guidelines on the remuneration benchmarking exercise, following the changes to the reporting requirements set out in the CRD IV Directive and the Capital Requirements Regulation; and
  • a Consultation Paper on draft guidelines on the data collection exercise regarding high earners. The purpose of the consultation is to set out proposals that update the EBA’s July 2012 guidelines on the data collection exercise for high earners, following the changes to the reporting requirements set out in the CRD IV Directive.

In both Consultation Papers there has also been some additional clarifications to ensure that high quality data is collected.

The deadline for responses to both Consultation Papers is 7 May 2014. The EBA expects to finalise both sets of guidelines by 30 June 2014. The new reporting formats will apply for the collection of data as from the 2013 financial year.
