The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published a Consultation Paper on its draft guidelines for common procedures and methodologies for the supervisory review and evaluation process (SREP) under Article 107(3) of the CRD IV Directive.

The purpose behind the guidelines is to ensure consistency in setting supervisory requirements for holding additional capital and liquidity resources within the parameters of a single market. The guidelines are intended to provide a common framework for the work of EU national competent authorities in their assessment of risks to banks’ business models, their solvency and liquidity.

The deadline for comments on the Consultation Paper is 7 October 2014. There will be a public hearing on 9 September 2014. It is intended that the guidelines will be applied by 1 January 2016.
