The Council of the EU has published:
- an “I” item note relating to the proposed Directive on criminal sanctions for insider dealing and market manipulation (CSMAD) along with an addendum of a joint statement from Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland setting out their reservations on CSMAD; and
- an “I” item note relating to the proposed Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) along with an addendum of a joint statement from Sweden and Austria setting out their reservations on MAR.
In the notes, the General Secretariat of the Council confirms that the texts represent the position of the European Parliament following adoption at first reading.
The General Secretariat now invites the Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) to approve at a forthcoming meeting the revised texts of CSMAD and MAR and to order that the statements in the addenda to the notes be entered in the minutes of that meeting. If the Council approves these texts, the legislation will be adopted and in due course published in the Official Journal of the EU.
