The Council of the EU has issued a press release stating that its Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) has agreed a negotiating stance on the proposed Regulation on indices used as benchmarks in financial instruments and financial contracts (Benchmark Regulation).

COREPER has asked the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU to start negotiations with the European Parliament as soon as possible so as to enable adoption of the Benchmark Regulation at first reading.
