The European Parliament (EP) and the Council of the EU (Council) have reached political agreement on the draft European Long Term Investment Fund (ELTIF) Regulation. The agreement paves the way for finalising a common text that the EP and Council could vote on in the next step of the EU legislative process.

The proposed ELTIF is a new type of collective investment framework allowing investors to put money into companies and projects that need long-term capital. It is aimed at investment fund managers who want to offer long-term investment opportunities to institutional and private investors across Europe.
