The European Commission has published a report that fulfils the obligation laid down in article 517 of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), according to which the Commission shall review and report to the European Parliament and the Council on the appropriateness of the definition of ‘eligible capital’.
In the report the Commission concludes that on the information available there has not been any particular issue that may call into question the appropriateness of the use of the ‘eligible capital’ definition for the purpose of Title III of Part Two, Part Four and article 97 of the CRR. Therefore the Commission feels that at this stage it does not appear suitable to put forward any legislative proposal making amendments.
