There has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/105 of 27 October 2017 which amends Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/1675 by adding Ethiopia to the list of high-risk third countries in the table in point I of the Annex.
The Delegated Regulation provides that the Commission’s analysis has concluded that Ethiopia should be considered a third-country jurisdiction that has strategic deficiencies in its anti-money laundering / counter financing of terrorism regime that pose significant threats to the financial system of the EU. However, it also notes that Ethiopia has provided a written high-level political commitment to address the identified deficiencies and has developed an action plan with the Financial Action Task Force. The Commission will reassess Ethiopia’s status in light of the implementation of this commitment.
The Delegated Regulation enters into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the OJ.
