On 20 January 2021, the European Commission issued a targeted consultation seeking general and technical views on the way to establish a European single access point (ESAP) for companies’ financial and sustainable investment-related information made public pursuant to EU legislation. The ESAP will address primarily information published by companies that are capital market participants, as well as SMEs looking for funding, as foreseen in the Capital Markets Union action plan. It will encompass information disclosed pursuant to the Non-Financial Reporting Directive and it could be extended to other categories of environmental, social and governance information disclosed by financial institutions. The deadline for comments on the consultation is 3 March 2021.
