On 27 July 2018, the European Commission (Commission) published a communication concerning an intention to endorse, with amendments, draft Regulatory and Implementing Technical Standards submitted by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) with regard to the details of securities financing transactions (SFTs) to be reported to trade repositories in accordance with Articles 4(9) and 4(10) of the Securities Financing Transaction Regulation (SFTR) and amending Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) with regard to the details to be reported to trade repositories under Article 9(6) of the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR).

The conclusion to the communication invites the Commission to approve a letter, in which it communicates to ESMA: (i) its intention to endorse the amendments to the technical standards on the SFT details to be reported to trade repositories; (ii) its request to submit an amendment to the ITS on details of derivative contracts to be reported under EMIR; and (iii) the reasons for the proposed amendments. The letter includes an Annex containing the amended draft technical standards as proposed by the Commission.
