The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has issued a statement that it will not progress its investigations on interchange fees for now.  The decision is based on the European Commission’s (EC) proposed Regulation on interchange fees, which is likely to be implemented in the coming months.

However, the CMA states that the investigations will remain open and that if the final version of the Regulation on interchange fees does not address the suspected harm of interchange fees, it will look at proactively continuing its investigations.
