On 20 December 2012, the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) approved Recommendation 2012/2 which was designed to reduce systemic risks relating to bank funding and asset encumbrance. The Recommendation was addressed to the European Banking Authority and regulatory authorities of Member States.

On 31 December 2013, the general board of the ESRB decided to extend the deadlines contained in the Recommendation by up to twelve months. The ESRB has now published a document that sets out in tabular form the revised deadlines for the measures covered in the Recommendation.
