The European Parliament has published a letter from Sharon Bowles (Chair of the Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON)), and the rapporteur and shadow rapporteurs on the single resolution mechanism (SRM). The letter highlights ECON’s concerns relating to the intergovernmental agreement on the functioning of a single resolution mechanism.

In an associated press release published by the European Parliament, it states that the current state of play in the negotiations on the SRM are not promising, given the wide differences between the Council of the EU and the Parliament and that there is a distinct possiblity that agreement will not be reached before the European elections in May 2014.
