The European Central Bank (ECB) has published a letter that it has sent in reply to an earlier letter from the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) relating to the ECB’s internal preparations for the single supervisory mechanism (SSM). The letter discusses a number of topics including:

• the internal structure of the ECB in its role under the SSM, including a “tentative” draft organogram for the SSM;
• ongoing workstreams at the ECB relating to the SSM;
• the ECB’s approach to the less significant institutions that will not be under its direct supervision; and
• the comprehensive assessment of large banks being undertaken by the ECB.
