On 9 July 2025, the Financial Policy Committee, which forms part of the Bank of England (BoE), published its latest Financial Stability Report (Report) which sets out its views on the outlook for UK financial  stability. The Report highlights several key developments around the UK’s financial stability including that UK household and corporate borrowers remain resilient and the UK’s banking system is still in a strong position to support households and businesses, even if economic and financial conditions were to deteriorate. In addition, the Report notes that the BoE plans to publish a discussion paper which will seek views on potential options to help mitigate gilt market vulnerabilities, including greater central clearing of gilt repo and minimum haircuts on non-centrally cleared gilt repo.
