The Prime Minister’s office has released the statement that the Prime Minister gave following the EU referendum result. In the statement David Cameron MP states that the exit negotiation with the EU should be under a new Prime Minister who will take the decision as to when to trigger the notification under Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union and start the formal and legal process of the UK leaving the EU. Whilst stating that there is currently no precise timetable in place for the election of a new leader of the Conservative party (and Prime Minister) Mr Cameron states that in his view this person should be in place by the start of the Conservative party conference in October.
